Shockwave Therapy
What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses mechanically generated acoustic (sound) waves to “wake up” the body’s healing response in areas, slow to heal, or chronically irritated.
Book a Shockwave consultDepending on the patient and condition being treated, we use veterinary-specific radial or focused shockwave equipment, delivered by our experienced rehab team. It’s often used alongside physiotherapy, laser therapy, or other treatments.
How shockwave therapy can help
Shockwave may:
- Encourage repair in tendons, ligaments, and muscles
- Reduce long-standing discomfort
- Improve flexibility and movement
- Help break down tight scar tissue
- Speed up recovery in stubborn injuries
When shockwave is helpful
It’s often recommended for:
- Chronic tendon/ligament problems (e.g., Achilles, biceps, supraspinatus)
- Shoulder or elbow issues
- Trigger points and muscle pain
- Hip or lower back discomfort
- Arthritis support
- Some delayed healing cases
What to expect
Sessions are usually 30-45 minutes. Most pets cope very well. If an area is sensitive or your pet is worried, we can discuss light sedation that you can administer at home before their session so they stay calm and positive. Most pets don’t require any sedation and owners notice improvement after a few sessions.
